Celebs in Ads: Kate Winslett for American Express
One of my favourite American Express Card Commercials.
The Ad starts with Kate Winslet walking through London's Camden Markets and revealing her achievements in reel life with the following quotes
"At 17, I went to prison for murder." -- A reference to her character in the movie Heavenly Bodies
"By 19, I was penniless and heartbroken." -- A reference to her character in Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility
"I almost drowned at 20." -- The Titanic reference
"My mind started to go at 24" -- Reference to Iris in which she co starred with Judi Dench
"Then I had my memory erased at 28" -- Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind
"By 29, I was in Never Land." -- A reference to her film Finding Neverland
and ends wonderfully well with a beautiful line
"My real life doesn’t need any extra drama. That’s why my card is American Express"
Creative Agency :Ogilvy & Mather , New York
Creative Director : Chris Mitton
Art Director : Kate Wilentz
Copywriter : Jon Koffler
Movie Director : Roger Michell
Director of Photography : Haris Zambarloukos
Music : Jason Lifton

If hunger is a wild animal that needs to be fed, would McDonald's be the first thought that crosses your mind?
If it is striving to be funny by going against the normal sign at the zoo that says wild animals should not be fed, then it is a huge FAILURE!
Makes me want to believe it is just an amateur work and not something churned out by a reputed ad agency like DDB Tribal,Austria.

Daikin - Air Conditioner AD
I have been trying to hunt down this particular ad from Daikin for a very long time...
The most alluring feature of this ad is the fact it shows 2 of the 36 views of Mt.Fuji as painted by the Japanese artist Hokusai.
It starts with the painting of The Great Wave off Kanagawa
and ends with a modified painting of Shore of Tago Bay,Ejiri at Tokaido.

Chase - Secret Agent
The bg is "Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers.
The song was the theme song of a T.V. show in the early to mid 60's of the same title. The show starred Patrick McGoowan as a secret agent.

This ad was aired on March 11 during American Idol's 7th Season.

ABSOLUT CITY ads
ABSOLUT CITY Ads
ABSOLUT ads are prime testimony to how advertising can change the fortunes of a company. A single ad - The ABSOLUT LA Campaign helped ABSOLUT overcome Stolichnaya as the best selling imported vodka in California. A beautiful set of ads that opened a whole wide world for the incredibly creative folks at TBWA. - The ABSOLUT City collection.
ABSOLUT LA - The ad that started it all.
ABSOLUT BOSTON -- Absolut Vodka cases floating in the water, with some of the cases having floated up against each other, forming an Absolut shape. Photographed by Steve Bronstein, this ad commemorated the 225th aniversary of the Boston Tea Party. A Brilliant concept and beautiful execution - An ad that celebrates the heritage of this city and its importance in the history of America.
ABSOLUT PHILADELPHIA - One would have expected the steak to come out in a vodka bottle shape for this city.
ABSOLUT BOSTON - Another one for this city with a dedication to the legendary Celtics.
more to come ...

Anti-White Campaign
I am sorry people, but these are some ads that really drove home the point. We live in mixed cultures where race, colour and faith should no longer be barriers.
History portrays us as separate entities but with global distances shrinking, we can no longer afford to stick with our geography-induced differences.
Amnesty International - Execution

Apple Mac Air - I am a new soul
I am a new soul - by Yael Naim is a very catchy song and used best for selling Apple's New Mac Air, which is so in synch with the song's lyrics..
Music video is pretty surreal but makes a lot of sense.

Oscar Mayer Comercial
Andy Lambros was just four years old when he was recruited
to sing the “My bologna has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R”
jingle for a TV advertisement. The youngster became frustrated
with the number of takes necessary to get the song just right,
and his “How’s that?” ad-lib was so naturally cute that it was
ultimately left in the commercial
Coca Cola Ad
One of Coca-Cola’s most enduring jingles was also a hit single: “I’d Like to Teach the World
to Sing.” The lyrics were inspired when a creative director for Coke’s ad agency was stranded
overnight in Dublin, Ireland, due to heavy fog over London’s
Heathrow Airport. Passengers were tired and cranky, and not
looking forward to spending the night at Shannon Airport. The
ad exec grabbed a snack at the airport coffee shop and happened
to notice that at nearby tables, passengers who were strangers to
one another (and who had been irate just an hour earlier) were
sitting together and chatting over bottles of Coca-Cola. The line
“I’d like to buy the world a Coke” popped into his head, and the
phrase was expanded into a memorable 1971 ad campaign.

Anacin
This is one Ad that Rosser Reeves and his ad agency made with their unique way of getting repetitive and drilling. Viewers hated this ad but the sales of Anacin sure did shoot up.
Reeves' idea of advertisement was to be as simple and to the point as possible with no false promises or fancy frills in the ad.
To him Ads were a science not art.
Of course, I beg to differ. Creativity is the core of advertising... Amen!

It gives cooked up account books a whole new meaning!!!!
Croatian creative agency Bruketa & Zinić have designed an annual report for food company “Podravka” that has to be baked in an oven before it can be read. Public Conscience in Ads
Long drawn court cases...
...“Yes, art does imitate life,” says Brijesh Jacob, ECD, Grey Worldwide, who was with Lowe when he conceptualised the Greenply ad. In Greenply’s ‘case’ (no pun intended), Jacob and his team took inspiration from news clippings on long drawn out court battles such as those for the 1993 Mumbai blasts and the Jessica Lal murder. Keeping in line with the Greenply humour, the brand wanted an ironic and satirical backdrop to bring forth the product’s durability concept.....
...the Tata Tea TVC, which has a young man questioning a political candidate’s qualifications to govern the country (awakening with Tata Tea, instead of just waking up). So, what’s with the reality check?....
...“These issues have always existed; due credit to the clients for supporting such creatives,” remarks brand consultant R Sridhar, partner, IDEAS-RS. “Usually, clients shy away from controversial topics.” Sridhar attributes the rise of such commercials to the evolving Indian psyche, particularly that of the youth. Nowadays, this segment is quite interested in current affairs and their surroundings, egged on by movies such as ‘Rang De Basanti’, or even by the media hyping up things. “Indians now have a more open psyche and willingness to state their point of view,” adds Sridhar, “a phenomenon that is reflecting in our advertising as well.”...
